Ask your family and friends these questions on the table.
How many things can you do?
How many people can ride a bike?
How many people can cook?
What can most people do?
What activity can most people not do?
What is your favourite activity?

Reading at Home with Oxford Owl.
Many of you will read the Oxford Reading Tree Books with me at school. We usually read the Biff, Chip and Kipper series. Since I can't send you the books at the moment I have set up an account for my pupils. If you send me an email I will send you a Username and Password. Some of the books have activities and you can listen to them too, so you can practise your pronunciation.

Well done! Dobra robota
This is a poem written by Amelka in P2 St James' Primary. Well done for being the first to send me your poem. It's beautiful.
Mother Tongue Poetry Project
✍🏼 Feeling creative? Bilingual? 🤓
Can you create a poem in your home language?
Even if you can't write yet in Polish, Urdu, Cantonese, Arabic, Portuguese etc you could still create a poem in your home language. Your family could help you with spelling, grammar and writing down your ideas. You could write a poem about anything you want: your family, your pet, a flower, your favourite memory, an issue like inequality or global warming. What ever inspires you!
The Renfrewshire EAL team are going to collect poems from children in all our schools and in lots of different languages. We hope you'll join in.
Get creative and send me your poem to
gw17cunninghamruth@glow.sch.uk or ruth.cunningham@renfrewshire.school
- Poems should be written in home language (handwritten or typed text)
- Pupils must be able to say or read poem out loud.
- The poems must be original and created from child’s ideas (but adults can help with writing, spelling and grammar)
- The poems can be about anything and no longer than one page.
- You do not need to translate the poem, but we would like you to say what it is about and why you chose to write it. (You can write this below the poem or on a separate paper)
- Please add an illustration or picture
The poems will be used to make a book. There may be some prizes but every child who enters will receive a certificate and posted on here!
I cannot wait to read your poems! Miss Ruth

Hi! My name is Miss Ruth and I work with bilingual pupils in Renfrewshire schools. At the moment you will be working from home, just like me! It is a very strange time indeed, but we can still learn together and connect. Every day I will post an activity on here that will help you learn and practise your English. I will also use Google classrooms, so look for the code for your school and connect using your Glow email account.
Please send me an email. I'd love to hear from you.
My email addresses are:
I will post Google classroom codes tomorrow.
Take care and stay safe. Miss Ruth xxx
